Please see our Calendar for the latest information.
Annual Events
In addition to the four regularly scheduled Alumnae Board meetings held usually in October, December, March, and June, Cap and Gown also hosts several regular events.
Tapping Tea
Cap and Gown actives and alumnae welcome our newest members at Tapping Tea, held in Fall Quarter. Undergraduate juniors and seniors submit applications in the early fall, and chosen women are "tapped" at this event later in the quarter. Tapping Tea is an opportunity to get to know new and old members!

Frosh Women Winter Welcome (FWWW)
Held in the beginning of Winter Quarter, this newest Cap and Gown tradition welcomes freshmen women into the Stanford community early in their freshmen year. Women in leadership positions such as faculty, deans, and administrators, as well as Cap and Gown actives and alumnae, consistently recognize the importance of role models and mentors who provided support at various points in their lives. The FWWW invites all frosh women, women transfer students, and women faculty. Click here for more information.
Life After Stanford
Usually held in Winter Quarter, the "Life After Stanford" event is an opportunity for actives and alumnae to gather for an evening of conversation, mentorship, and introspection. Diverse speakers detail their experiences in life since graduation. Life After Stanford is an informal and intensely personal discussion as alumnae answer questions about topics such as work/life balance, pursuing graduate degrees, dual career couples, and how to set personal goals and ask for what you want.
Spring Luncheon
In Spring Quarter, Cap and Gown alumnae and actives enjoy great food and company and hear inspiring life stories from a panel of Stanford women spanning decades. At this time, our actives recognize new honorary members that the actives select in consultation with the Alumnae Board. Our honoraries are women actively involved in the University who have made a sustained contribution to Stanford undergraduate women and can make a continuing contribution to the organization.
Graduation Tea
The Alumnae Board hosts Graduation Tea for graduating actives and their families on the day before Stanford's Graduation at a local alumnae's home. Graduation Tea is a chance for us to once again celebrate the contributions of our actives to the Stanford community
Other Events In the last few years, Cap and Gown has held additional events, such as a leadership workshop, a senior thesis writing seminar, outreach programs to local schools, desert and wine socials, and community service projects through local organizations such as the Race for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, the Urban Ministry of Palo Alto, and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
In 2005, Cap and Gown hosted a day-long Centennial Celebration marking its 100th year at Stanford. This exciting event showcased the history of women and the Cap and Gown organization at Stanford.
Mentors Program Cap and Gown also supports a Mentors Program, connecting current actives with Cap and Gown alumnae. Click here for more information about our Mentors Program.
Young Alumnae Program Additionally, Cap and Gown also hosts a Young Alumnae Program to reconnect and promote networking among Cap and Gown young alumnae.
